| Liberia: ACFI Dedicates US$175,000 Children's Village The Analyst (Monrovia) March 22, 2006 Posted to the web March 22, 2006 J. Nathaniel Daygbor The African Christian Fellowship International Church Ministry (ACFI) has dedicated a Children's Village valued at US$175,000. It will be used for neglected children and those who lost their parents during the 15 years of blood bath in the country, officials said. The children's village is based in the Caldwell, outside the capital, Monrovia Officials said the village will host over 50 boys, and will be used to provide free Christian education for both the inhabitants of the village and community dwellers. The village has a well furnished dormitory; with a 15-hour of electricity as well as running water. The children are fed three times a day, officials told this paper. Speaking during the dedicatory ceremony, the Founder and President of the ACFI, Rev. Dr. T. Edward Kofi praised God for the blessings he has bestowed on the Liberian people through his ministry. He recalled the mayhem that characterized the war such as the killing of innocent children, harassment of peaceful children, among other dehumanizing activities. He also frowned on those he termed so-called activists who sacrificed the lives of Liberian children and accuse others of child trafficking. Rev. Kofi then urged the Liberian people to be mindful of the enemies who come in the name of child rights activists. "They are no longer using the barrel of arms, but now using the media to damage the future of the few remaining children." He said these people were calling them, those are providing help to children, names to discourage them. According to him, the interest of the church is to provide a good future for the Liberian children. Dr. Kofi's statement came in the wake of recent allegation leveled against him and his ministry that they were involved in child trafficking in the country. Meanwhile the visiting team of missionaries from the United States of American headed by Evangelist Jack Zackey has donated a vehicle to the village. For his part, the guest speaker at the program, Elder Milton Borlah urged parents to impact into their children basics training that can help them to have a brighter future. |
